CannaBiz on the Drive with Steve jaxon: Veteran Étienne Fontán
Nick Caston and Steve Jaxon celebrated Veterans day by interviewing Étienne Fontán, a combat veteran, National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) board member, and co-owner of Berkeley Patients Group. After the Gulf War, cannabis became Étienne’s alternative to morphine as he healed from injuries. He soon lost his VA benefits for testing positive with THC, and made it his mission to change the perspectives and laws that limited medical cannabis consumption.
The veteran joined other cannabis visionaries in a movement that led to the passing of The Medical Marijuana Initiative, (Prop 215) the foundation that cannabis laws build on today.
Étienne continues the movement for safe and legal cannabis with Berkeley Patients Group, a boundary breaking dispensary founded in 1999, and serves on the board of the National Cannabis Industry Association.
